About Marina Dorćol

A new riverside neighbourhood on the Danube embankment in Dorćol, a short walk from Kalemegdan, built around a marina and the restored 1930s power station Snaga i svetlost.

The back story

Lower Dorćol, between the old town and the Danube, was for centuries Belgrade’s working riverside, with mills, warehouses and the port. In 1932 a modern power station opened here under a foreign concession: Snaga i svetlost (Power and Light), which supplied Belgrade until 1969. Its brick halls and chimney are a rare piece of the city’s industrial heritage and were declared a cultural monument in 2013.

After the plant closed, the riverbank sat half-forgotten, with a small marina, boatyards and empty land, even as Dorćol above it became one of the most fashionable neighbourhoods in Belgrade.

The Snaga i svetlost power station is being restored as a cultural and arts centre with its own park.

The new quarter

Designed by the Kuzmanović + Fiala studio of Jelena Kuzmanović and Stanislav Fiala, Marina Dorćol brings apartments and ground-floor shops around a new marina basin, with more than 30,000 square metres of new green space linked to the Danube Linear Park, which runs along the river from the fortress. The Snaga i svetlost power station is being restored as a cultural and arts centre with its own park.

Construction of the first phase began in 2025, with completion and handover planned for the third quarter of 2028.

For visitors

Walk along the Danube Linear Park from the Belgrade Fortress to see the new quarter take shape, then head up into Dorćol’s streets for cafés and cocktail bars on Strahinjića Bana.

Our advice: walk the Danube Linear Park from the fortress, and finish with dinner in Dorćol.
